THE MUSEUM OF 20TH CENTURY – MESTRE (ITALY)
Graziadio ISOLSBARRA 1250A and 800A feed the new “Museum of the 20th Century” in Mestre, the Italian commun near the city of Venice. The Museum, that will be opened in the next Summer in 2018, will be focused on the greatest social changes in the 20th century: urbanisation, industrialisation and deindustrialisation, demographic transition. The permanent exhibition has the purpose to analyse and to present to the public the most significant testaments of XX century in the will be divided in 5 sections: economic history, social history, cultural history, history and history of the environment. The Museum will take part in a greater project: to create a cultural centre called “M9” like no one in Italy, as a new-concept cultural pole with a museum, exhibition spaces, mediatheque-archives and spaces for educational activities and public services with a floor area of 8.000 sq mt in the central area of Mestre. The purpose is to revitalise Mestre with the culture and the technology and to catch the attention of the city and of the whole North-east.
