Today’s energy scenario
Today oil and natural gas dominate the scenario of the global energy market and this is expected to continue in the future. From the last five years to today, oil has covered 33% of global energy consumption, followed by natural gas with 24%. Renewable energy, on the other hand, satisfies only 2% of needs.
Oil remains the most used resource as it is the cheapest and most efficient energy source for primary uses in current societies, such as heating and transport.
These resources require large infrastructures for extraction, subsequent transformation and for transport to the end user.
Investments by international oil companies in the exploration of new fields and extraction increase every year.
